Thanks for your question. Pups begin to go out on their first hunts when they are about 6-7 months old. The whole pack hunts as a team-some members being more aggressive, others being faster, some having a better sense of strategy. For the most part, these abilities are more important than the actual age of the animals. The alphas lead the hunts and they are, of course, the strongest and most dominant members. When they become too old or weakened in some way, they lose their position. On the average, wolves live 10-12 years in the wild.
