: Do Trumpeter Swans eat fish or crustations as do their other waterfowl cousins do?

Thanks for your question, Sean. Trumpeter swans eat a variety of vegetation. In Yellowstone these plant foods include pond weed, water milfoil, and sedges. Snails and crustaceans are also eaten occasionally, but not as regular fare. Although fish have been recovered from the gullets of trumpeters which died at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary, probably they aren't a staple of the trumpeter swan's usual diet.
