Hi Jonathan-thanks for your question. There are two native swans in North America, the tundra and the trumpeter. (The swans you commonly see in parks are usually non-native mute swans.) Only the tundra presently has a legal hunting season. I don't really know if the future will bring an additional limited legal hunt of the trumpeter, although there has been some discussion to this effect.
