Thank you for your question Ryan. Saddly many rangers have died while performing the duties of their jobs. National Parks have been around for over 130 years now, and it would be difficult to come up with a total for you. But this summer we lost two Park Service employees in separate tragic incidents. One lost his life in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument while involved in a border problem, and a young woman was hit by a drunk driver while she was directing traffic around an accident in the Washington D.C. area. Rangers serve to protect our national treasures, and we often forget that there are dangers involved.
