Thanks for your question, MO. Yes, at times bears do kill livestock and they are dealt with on a case by case basis. If they threaten human lives, they would probably be destroyed, or at least relocated. It would also depend on if this is a repeat infraction.
Ranchers can be reimbursed by Defenders of Wildlife for livestock predation by bears if they can prove that a bear is the culprit.
