A white wolf stands alone in the wilderness over looking a valley. In time, as people began to move west, they were fueled with a sense that it was their right, even their duty, to use and develop the land. Pasture was made for cattle, fields were plowed, crops were planted, fences were raised, and the wilderness was tamed. These changes brought the needs of wolves and those of humans on a collision course. In addition to being distrusted and feared, the wolf soon became a competitor.
