: What do you do if a wolf pack moves out of Yellowstone National Park??

Hello Alecia,

Thanks for the question. The wolf reintroduction to the Yellowstone area was not only to Yellowstone National Park (2 million acres) but to the entire Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem which is over 18 million acres. When wolves head out of the park, the US Fish and Wildlife Service takes over the lead on monitoring those wolves. When wolves are delisted from the Endangered Species list in this region, the management of the wolves will be turned over to the states as long as they have an approved management plan in place.
